At Next Generation Dance Company, all classes have a specific dress code. Proper dance wear is essential to ensure safe practice, as well as for our teachers to be able to give the most accurate corrections that will allow your child to progress quickly and efficiently. Each level is required to wear a different colour uniform which is purchased right at the studio! Please see below for the colour leotard your child will have for their class. All class unfiroms are sold at The Dancer's Closet, located at the corner of Parkhill and Monaghan in Peterborough.

Hair:

Hair for all classes and all levels must be tied back neatly off of the face. Hair should not have to be consistently fixed during class or be falling into the dancers face or . For the safety of your dancer, no dancer will be able to participate in class without their hair secured back .

Competitive and Elite Company

Competitive Company: Competitive Company Members are asked to wear form-fitting dance wear. This may include athletic shorts, leggings, sports bras, crop tops, tank tops, form-fitting t-shirts, and leotards. All clothing must be easy to move in and not distracting to the dancer during class. Hair should be tied back neatly off of the face and should not need to be consistently adjusted during class. Any and all baggy clothing should be removed 10-minutes into class or as soon as requested by the instructor for better technical critiques. Failure to abide by the dress code will result in the dancer not being able to dance. Please see below for specific ballet class dress code which is strictly enforced.

Competitive Company Ballet:

Petite Co: Light Pink Leotard, Pink Ballet Tights, Pink Canvas Ballet Shoes. Hair in a bun secured for class with bun pins and a hair net is recommended but not mandatory.

Mini Co: Light Pink Leotard, Pink Ballet Tights, Pink Canvas Ballet Shoes. Hair must be in a bun, secured with bun pins and a hair net for each ballet class. Ripped tights and shoes with holes are not acceptable attire for class.

Junior Co: Light Purple Leotard, Pink Ballet Tights, Pink Canvas Ballet Shoes. Hair must be in a bun, secured with bun pins and a hair net for each class. Ripped tights and shoes with holes are not acceptable attire for class.

Inter Co: Any coloured leotard, Pink Ballet Tights, Pink Canvas Ballet Shoes. Hair must be in a bun, secured with bun pins and a hair net for each class. Ripped tights and shoes with holes are not acceptable attire for class

*Hair must be in a bun for ballet only. All other styles may have a tight ponytail, braids, etc. If a dancer chooses to change in between classes they must be able to do so promptly or they will not be given any time to do so.
