At Next Generation Dance Company, all classes have a specific dress code. Proper dance wear is essential to ensure safe practice, as well as for our teachers to be able to give the most accurate corrections that will allow your child to progress quickly and efficiently. Each level is required to wear a different colour uniform which is purchased right at the studio! Please see below for the colour leotard your child will have for their class. Please note: shoes are not sold at the studio at this time.

Hair:

Hair for all classes and all levels must be tied back neatly off of the face. Hair should not have to be consistently fixed during class or be falling into the dancers face or . For the safety of your dancer, no dancer will be able to participate in class without their hair secured back .

Competitive and Elite Company

Competitive Company Members are asked to wear form-fitting dance wear. This may include athletic shorts, leggings, sports bras, crop tops, tank tops, form-fitting t-shirts, and leotards. All clothing must be easy to move in and not distracting to the dancer during class. Hair should be tied back neatly off of the face and should not need to be consistently adjusted during class.

Competitive Company: Any coloured Leotard for Ballet, Pink Ballet Tights and Pink Canvas Ballet Shoes for Ballet. Form-fitting dance wear for all other styles. Track pants are not to be worn in any class other than hip hop.

Elite Company: Any coloured Leotard for Ballet, Pink Ballet tights, pink canvas ballet shoes. Form-Fitting Dance wear for Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Acro and Tap. Absolutely no track pants except for Hip Hop unless being used for warm-up. Any and all baggy clothing should be removed 10-minutes into class or as soon as requested by the instructor for better technical critiques. Failure to abide by the dress code will result in the dancer not being able to dance.

ALL Company Members must wear a leotard and tights for Ballet classes with their hair secured in a bun. Dancers who are not in dress code will not be permitted to take the class and will be asked to sit and take notes instead. Part of being a member of NGDC's Competitive and Elite Companies is proving responsibility and professionalism inside and outside the studio.
